Resolved Code Signing in PowerServer 2021 with new code signing cerfiticate requirements?

We tried to compile our application today and ran into a problem. Our code signing certificate has expired. I apparently didn't get advance notice from the issuer, GoDaddy, like I normally would, because they no longer issue them.

I'm looking at getting a new one from SSL.com, which appears to be the least expensive. They also have the option of using their eSigner cloud service, so a hardware key (which is apparently a new requirement) is not actually required. This would be especially helpful for us because we're compiling on a virtual server running on VMware.

However, in the Signing tab in Powerserver 2021, we've been using the SignTool utility option, which requires a path to a local signing certificate, which is no longer going to work for us. But I do see there is another option to use your own signing script. I'm hoping this would work with the eSigner service?

Has anyone else run into this yet? I want to make sure this is going to work before buying the new certificate and subscribing to their cloud-based signing service. (They say about the signing service that "CodeSignTool and DocSignTool command line tools available for automation and workflow processes. Automate signings with signtool.exe and certutil.exe. Supports CI/CD integration for full automation of code signings.")
